According to sweet lovers, the main dessert of 2019 was chia pudding. Not only culinary bloggers, but also celebrities became interested in this delicious dish, and now chia seed pudding can be found on the menu of almost any restaurant. What is the reason for such popularity and is it necessary to have a special culinary magic to make a dessert yourself?

Chia Pudding is a healthy dessert

Chia seeds are real superfood. They are so rich in vitamins, minerals and trace elements, that many attribute to them even magical properties. It is believed that this product strengthens the immune system, helps fight diseases, promotes healing and rejuvenation of the body.

The most surprising thing is that experts agree with this opinion. And according to nutritionists, chia seeds are indispensable for those who want to lose weight. Their use not only helps suppress appetite, but also contributes to faster weight loss.

Chia seed pudding is a healthy and low-calorie treat. There are only 160 kcal per 100 grams in Chia pudding. For comparison, the energy value of the New York cheesecake starts at 300 kcal. The difference is palpable, especially for those who watch their figure. Therefore, don’t be surprised that actresses, models, and bloggers praise this dish.

How to make chia seed pudding?

Good news for the sweet tooth: to make chia pudding, you don’t need to be a culinary blogger or restaurant chef: the classic recipe, as well as the different variations, are very simple to execute - everyone can cook them.

Classic chia milk pudding

You will need:

  • Chia seeds - 2 tablespoons
  • Milk - 1/2 cup
  • Additional ingredients to your taste

The key pint of this dessert is that you don’t need a lot of ingredients to prepare it, and you can determine their amount by eye. For the easiest pudding option, you'll need milk and chia seeds. Seeds must be soaked in milk and mixed well, pour the resulting mass into molds and refrigerate. Dessert will be ready in 20 minutes, but it is better to leave it for the night so that it turns out more dense and rich.

In this case, you can take any milk (cow, coconut, almond, oat), or you can replace it with yogurt. You can also add fruits, berries, nuts, cereals, honey and any other toppings that you like in the pudding. Experiment with different types of milk and toppings to find your perfect flavor combination.

Coconut Chia Pudding

You will need:

  • Chia seed - 15 grams
  • Ground white flax - 60 grams
  • Coconut milk - 160 milliliters
  • Water - 130 milliliters
  • Honey - 2 teaspoons

Soak the chia and flax seeds in milk and leave for 30 minutes. After that, add some water or, if you want the pudding to be thicker, more milk.  Let it brew for another 10 minutes and then add some honey. Garnish the resulting dessert with berries, fruits, or nuts to taste.

Mango Chia Pudding

You will need:

  • Chia seeds - 3 tablespoons
  • Milk - 150 milliliters
  • Mango - 1 piece

Pour chia seeds with milk and leave for about half an hour. The more time you let the seeds brew, the thicker the pudding will be. Then add mango puree to it. Garnish with diced fruit. Mango will add sweet acidity to the dessert.

Oatmeal Chia Pudding

You will need:

  • Almond milk - 10 tablespoons
  • Chia seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • Honey - 1 teaspoon
  • Oatmeal - 4 tablespoons

Mix almond milk and honey. Add oatmeal and chia seeds and mix thoroughly. Refrigerate the mass overnight to thicken pudding. By the way, oatmeal chia pudding can be prepared without milk, replacing it with heated water, but with milk it is still tastier.

Banana Chia Pudding

You will need:

  • Milk - 1 cup
  • Chia seeds - 3 tablespoons
  • Honey - 1 teaspoon
  • Banana - 1 piece

Pour chia seeds with milk and leave for 10 minutes. Add honey and banana to the mixture (as mashed potatoes or in small pieces) and mix well again. Leave it overnight in the refrigerator, so that the dessert thickens, and in the morning a wholesome and hearty breakfast will be waiting for you.

Chocolate Chia Pudding

You will need:

  • Almond milk - 2 cups
  • Chia seeds - 2/3 cup
  • Cocoa powder - 1 tablespoon
  • Coconut flakes - 2 tablespoons
  • Maple syrup - 1/2 tablespoon

Mix almond milk with chia seeds. Add cocoa and coconut and mix well until smooth. At the end, you can add a little wedge syrup, so that the pudding acquires a piquant sweetish flavor. Pour into molds and refrigerate.
