One of the most famous and prestigious film awards, Golden Globe 2020, will take place very soon. While the actors are worried and wondering who will become the winner, the audience eagerly awaits red carpet arrivals. In anticipation of the ceremony, we made a selection of the best celebrity looks that have already gone down in history.
Julianne Moore hit the red carpet in 2015. The actress came to the Golden Globe ceremony in a shimmering silver Givenchy dress. Feathers on the hem gave the image extravagance and originality. Julianne Moore didn’t overload her look with unnecessary accessories and opted for a minimalistic clutch.
In 2016, super model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley stepped out in a white floor-length Atelier Versace gown with a thigh-high split. The figure-hugging dress featured sheer panels which ran down the entire length of one side of the dress. She kept her styling simple, pairing the statement dress with some sparkling sandals and silver hoop earrings.
Truth be told, yellow isn’t the easiest color to pull off. But for Reese Witherspoon, wearing the bright sunny hue has become second nature.
In 2017, the Golden Globe presenter hit the red carpet wearing what she called a true Witherspoon-appropriate “classic Hollywood look” on *******– a strapless yellow Versace gown with a thigh-high slit up the front, accessorized with a gold floral jeweled choker necklace and soft, simple makeup.
In the same year, Blake Lively killed it on the red carpet wearing a futristic black Atelier Versace gown with gold chain mail around the top. And to make the dress even better, it had pockets. Fashionista’s sleek updo complemented the dress.
In 2018, all actresses decided to wear black clothes at the Golden Globes ceremony in protest against gender discrimination. Nevertheless, star looks turned out not to be boring. Penelope Cruz wowed in her Ralph and Russo pearlescent floral jacquard gown that had a statement skirt, crystal lace overlay and velvet halter sleeves. The 44-year-old star was a vision in the number; it had purple, green, silver and white crystals on the black frock; she added diamond drop earrings for even more sparkle.
At the 2018 Golden Globes, Dakota Johnson lit up the red carpet with the unexpected star pattern on the back of her black Gucci gown. The actress showed her support to the #TimesUp movement and stepped out on the red carpet in a black Gucci Pre-Fall 2018 organza and velvet gown, but it wasn't just the front we couldn't take our eyes off. Aside from the heavily embellished belt that caught our attention, the back of the dress is something else—the definition of an 'exit dress'. Featuring an embellished crystal train and back detail, the dress deserves to be seen from all angles.
It was Lady Gaga who did hit the Golden Globe 2019 ceremony. Lady Gaga's pale blue Valentino gown had statement off-the-shoulder heels and an impressive train; she brought her unique sense of style to the annual awards show with her platinum blonde hair tinted blue. She chose the frock in order to pay homage to Judy Garland - the star of the 1954 version of A Star Is Born; Judy had donned a similar off-the-shoulder blue gown in the film. Lady Gaga, born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, wore over a hundred carats of diamonds to the awards show.
Julia Roberts reminded us all that pants can be just as chic as a dress on the red carpet—especially when worn together. A mix of masculine meets feminine, the actress wore a Stella McCartney look including both pants and a dress. The top of Roberts' hybrid ensemble featured a one-shouldered tulle dress belted at the waist. From the waist down, the actress donned a pair of crisp black trousers for a menswear-inspired twist.
We can’t ignore the stunning dress in which Irina Shayk appeared at the prestigious film award. Irina came to support her ex-husband Bradley Cooper. Irina looked absolutely incredible in her low-cut gold gown, which clung to her slim form; the brunette beauty, who debuted shorter hair, flashed her cleavage, her flat stomach and her toned legs in the sheer metallic frock.
