During the Moschino FW 2020 fashion show in Milan, Jeremy Scott moved us to the era of Marie-Antoinette (by the way, the Queen is often called the first consumer of couture). This time, the designer, known for his love of outrageous shows, bet on the brightness and glamor. It all started with the decadently designed cake-adorned invites – not bad for the fashion world!

“Fashion is an ultimate luxury - I mean, you don't need it - so it should bring you pleasure and make you happy. I don't like the idea of people revering it,” – the designer said and presented actual “cake” dresses. There was a pink-and-white off-the-shoulder number that matched the invite, a white tiered frock with orange flowers perfect for a summer wedding in the French countryside and the show’s closer: a pristinely white bridal dress that looked good enough to eat.

Sky-high hair in shades varying from platinum and pastel pink to chestnut, toile-print bustles, gilded denim and rich velvet jacquard– everything perfectly fits the idea of a designer. Jeremy Scott has combined the style of Marie-Antoinette’s outfits with modern fashion trends. If the French Queen were to step through the doors of Versailles today, surely this is what she’d be wearing. These looks were, of course, mixed among Moschino’s signature moto-jacket ease and matching accessories.

The accessories and hairstyles deserve special attention: layered pearl necklaces and bags, shaped like cakes, croissants and a very realistic baguette. On the catwalk, the models were dressed in high-colored wigs –another kind of a reference to the French Queen. It was Marie-Antoinette, who came up with high, decorated hairstyles, called poufs. By the way, the designer did not forget about the most fashionable color of the wig - strawberry blonde.

The show was attended by Irina Shayk, Kaia Gerber and Bella and Gigi Hadid. Irina Shayk hit the catwalk in a black skirt with a wide frame with the Moschino inscription, while Gigi Hadid donned an original outfit. The model stepped out in a dress from multicolored roses made of frosting, and a bag in the Gigi’s hands resembled a cake box.
