Creative director of Fendi Kim Jones presented a new Fall/Winter collection as a part of Milan Fashion Week. Filled with lightness and eroticism, models in pastel colors send us back to the last century and imperceptibly indicate the main codes of Fendi: comfort, elegance and style bordering on high art. Jones was inspired by the time when Karl Lagerfeld created the Fendi logo and representation, his collection epitomizes what the famous designer called "the unbearable lightness of being": light, transparent, cheerful pieces of clothing that he sometimes combined with each other regardless of fashion standards. Light dresses could be combined with heavy fur coats and it looked chic.
The Fendi show was opened by the stunning Bella Hadid in blue lingerie and a translucent frilly dress. The outlook of the model was complemented by a short powder coat, high mint gloves and a handbag of the same color.
The collection consists of playful dresses, short jackets, belly-opening draped blouses, leather skirts and fur coats. It also refers to the 1986 Fendi summer collection with its revolutionary geometry of forms, combined with sensual images. Dresses and bustiers resemble underwear, which looks too contrasting in combination with strict jackets and voluminous fur coats.
“It's like a combination of concrete and chiffon, soft and hard,” Jones explained. “But women can also be tough and soft at the same time.” Handbags created by the heiress of the Fendi empire, Silvia Venturini Fendi, deserve special attention. This season was shown fur clutches in bright colors, miniature handbags attached to clothes and roomy bags with Fendi's signature print.
