Beloved European brand H&M could be sued for copying models from other well-known companies. So it presented clothes in latest collection that strongly reminds of Japanese luxury clothing brand COMME des GARÇONS, as well as the famous Balenciaga.

The new H&M Conscious collection has made a splash in the fashion world, but not only thanks to affordable prices and cool fashion items. The range includes products similar to models from the catalogs of some well-known brands, as well as products that are an imitation of knitwear by aspiring designer Chet Lo. Noticing the plagiarism, the London-based Asian-American fashion designer wrote about the incident on his social networks, after which a real scandal erupted.

“As a small brand and independent designer, I worked incredibly hard to create something that was based on my vision of fashion,” said Chet Lo. These fast fashion companies are constantly copying the work of smaller and more creative designers, but at the end of the day, authenticity, originality and creativity cannot be replicated,” he added.

Chet Lo's eponymous label debuted in 2020, after which the designer's famous knitted tops and dresses began to be worn by celebrities. Lo's work has been recognized by stars such as Doja Cat and SZA, who both wore his signature studded knit top in their "Kiss Me More" music video. Other celebrities such as Kylie Jenner, Willow Smith and Dua Lipa are also fans of Lo's silhouettes, with his clothes sold at Selfridges and SSENSE. H&M has not yet given an official response to the accusation of copying other people's models, right now angry buyers are shaming the brand for appropriating other people's ideas in comments on social networks.
