Since 2004, H&M has been collaborating with renowned designers from around the world. This year, the Swedish company teamed up with South Korean designer Rock Wang to create the 58-piece collection. It may seem that Rock, with his authentic fashion vision, does not fit for a brand with such a wide audience. He is not like the designers who have previously collaborated with the brand — Thierry Mugler, Donatella Versace, Olivier Rousteing, Isabel Marant.
Creative Director of H&M, Anne-Sophie Johansson has been watching Rock Wang since his studies at university and admired his creativity. She decided that time to show the world the rising talent has come. His graduate collection won the L'Oréal Professionnel Creative Award and the Chloe Award, which brought the young designer to Phoebe Philo's attention in 2009. Then he worked at Celiné for several years and collaborated with Louis Vuitton and Chloé. In 2016, Rokh Wang founded his own brand, called Rokh, in London.

Rock Wang is the most outstanding representative of Korean fashion, creating unique but wearable clothes. He intends to make functional and timeless pieces. His idea is to make things fit the person, not the other way round.
He became the first Korean designer at H&M. He was born in Korea, grew up in Texas, studied in London and now the creator presents his works in Paris. But he had never been to Stockholm until the H&M representatives contacted him a year and a half ago.
He was constantly present in the workshop and supervised every step throughout the designing process. The creative director of H&M Anne-Sophie Johansson acknowledges the designer's perfectionism and meticulous attention to detail.
The distinctive features of the designer are clearly visible in the joint collection of H&M and Rock Wang. There are oversized leather jackets, pleated shirts, and the signature double-layer trench coats in water-resistant material, suitable for both men and women.
Fans of the designer will also find familiar details like asymmetry, ornaments on coats and jackets, cleavages and buttons on the back. The designer's unconventional style also feels in accessories - a bag-organiser, metal jewellery, double-wrapped belts and oxfords on top rubber soles. It is a sort of a combination between power-dressing and punk.
The idea is to create timeless clothes that are suitable for work, for a long walk, or an outing, that can be adapted to each style and mood. For example, a black dress from the line can become more sensual by revealing a leg or more fun by the twisted pleats. The collection contains items both for men and women, asmany unisex models.
Wang values this experience and considers it a great fortune to be able to work with such a big brand, creating pieces for so many customers. The designer hopes that his clothes will serve people for a long time and be useful to them.
