Roll-neck knitted collar - what is it

Despite the fact that a roll-neck knitted collar have gained particular popularity in the last few seasons, they were invented back in the 16th century in Venice. At that time it was trendy for noble ladies to wear dresses with deep cutouts. So as not to freeze in bad weather, they covered themselves with such "detachable details". Roll-neck collars of the day were as elegant as possible - they were decorated with embroidery, precious stones and other spectacular details.

Modern items look either like high collars, or like vests, but without seams on the sides, or like capes up to the middle of the shoulder. Some designers complement them with zippers or buttons, which is typical for the apres-ski style. They can be made from cashmere or from a wool / cotton blend. When choosing a rollneck collar, pay attention to the quality of the fabric - it should be pleasant to the touch, thornless and rather dense to keep warm even in severe frosts.

You can wear a roll-neck collar in two different ways: going outside, you can combine it with a coat, jacket, puffer, sheepskin coat and any other outerwear that you don't want to hide under long scarves. On the other hand, the roll-neck collar is ideal for outfits in which you plan to wear indoors.
