Designer Stella McCartney has released an original capsule collection inspired by Disney's famous 1940 film Fantasia. In her social networks, the designer shared pictures of models with prints from this children's film. Stella recalls that her mother Linda (the ex-wife of musician Paul McCartney) simply adored Disney cartoons, so the future designer actually grew up on Fantasia.
“I liked escaping reality into the colorful and psychedelic world of a fairy tale, listening to the powerful sounds of symphonic music,” McCartney said. As an adult, the fashion designer rethought some of the images from the cartoon and created a unique spring-summer unisex collection based on it, which includes clothes and accessories for adults and children.
She transferred Fantasia footage and movie posters to Nona Source's recycled limited edition silk, which is made from the remnants of luxurious fabrics. The collection's knitwear sparkles with eco-friendly, non-plastic sequins, eco-friendly Loop sneakers feature iridescent graphics, and signature Stella McCartney Elyse platform boots feature fun prints. The Falabella bag is adorned with rainbows and studded with crystals, and for black recycled backpacks and camera bags McCartney opted for contrasting white Mickey Mouse motifs.
Interestingly, that for its time Fantasia was a unique experiment in which cartoonists combined visuals for children with serious classical music performed by Bach, Beethoven and Tchaikovsky.
