The Italian luxury group Dolce & Gabbana has begun developing and manufacturing its own cosmetics. This was announced on Monday by the company's CEO Alfonso Dolce.

The decision to open a multi-million dollar business, which is the key moment for many fashion houses, came to Dolce & Gabbana with the idea to expand its range and increase the number of customers.

Along with this, Dolce set out to triple the company's profits, strengthen the position in the perfume market and launch product lines, such as creams and serums, which the brand still doesn’t have.

“We are thinking about a business model that could strengthen our partnerships with manufacturers and become a long-term strategy for brand development,” Dolce said in an interview for financial weekly newspaper L'Economia Corriere della Sera.

Dolce & Gabbana has been collaborated with the Japanese cosmetic brand Shiseido until December 2021, but now they decided to launch their own production. So far, most of Dolce & Gabbana's cosmetic products are perfumes. For the present the retail value of its cosmetics business is almost 1 billion euro.

The new company will start with a capital of between 200 million and 250 million euros from attracted investors. The number of jobs will also increase: the staff in the offices of Italy and abroad will noticeably increase by March 2023.

Dolce will become the head of the new company, and former LVMH chief executive Gianluca Toniolo will be appointed CEO.

We hope that we will see the new Dolce & Gabbana cosmetics at stores very soon.
