The 90’s are back! For those whose childhood and youth came at the turn of the century, this era is associated with a sense of nostalgia. Many designers and brands draw inspiration from the aesthetics of the 90’s, which is also reflected in modern trends. We have compiled a selection of TV shows that will help you immerse yourself in the atmosphere of those years.

Baywatch

The series is filled with sunlight, golden sand and the splash of waves. And this is a real hymn to the beauty of the human body. Such actors as David Hasselhoff, Michael Newman and gorgeous Pamela Anderson starred. Initially, no one believed in the success of this project: the studio tried to close the series about brave rescuers’ adventures right after the first season. But the audience’s love and devotion gave it a second life: it was finally closed after eleven seasons.

On air: from 1989 to 2001

Friends

The cult series of the 90’s, which was so loved by the audience and stayed on the air for 10 seasons. It was closed at the peak of its popularity: the creators decided that the story came to a logical end. It’s still interesting to watch the funny and sometimes ridiculous situations in which the characters of the series - Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Joey, Chandler and Ross - get into. However, the key point of Friends is not even the plot, but the amazing atmosphere of comfort, kindness and true friendship, which each episode is filled with. By the way, judging by the rumors, soon, we will see the continuation of the show - a good reason to refresh our impressions and review a couple of seasons.

On air: from 1994 to 2004

Twin Peaks

This is a dark story about brutal murder, that was committed in one of the provincial American cities. But the plot is not so simple. In fact, the story is much deeper - what else can you expect from the series, shot by cult director David Lynch? With each episode, the atmosphere escalates more and more, the director masterfully weaves elements of mysticism and surrealism into the story, and the viewer is immersed in the secrets of Twin Peaks, as if in a quagmire. In 2017, there was the sequel, but fans still worship the very original story of the sinister city.

On air: from 1990 to 1991

Police Academy

The series is a satire on the police’s life and work, but this is not an evil parody, which aims to ridicule or humiliate the heroes. This is a good story, which shows the viewer, in sarcastic way, how the police academy is organized. Heroes find themselves in funny, often hyperbolic situations, trying to deal with each other and at the same time build a career for successful and responsible policemen. It doesn’t always work out with them, but this gives rise to a huge number of jokes that will appeal to both the modern viewer and those who grew up on similar television series from the 90’s.

On air: from 1997 to 1998

The X-Files

The series, which spawned a whole culture of passion for conspiracy theories, the search for UFOs and evidence of the existence of extraterrestrial life. FBI special agents Scully and Mulder are investigating paranormal crimes. One of the episodes turned out to be so creepy, that they refused to air it for a long time. However, most episodes simply tickle the nerves with their mysterious and mystical atmosphere. In 2016, the creators released a sequel, so reviewing the first nine seasons of The X-Files is worth at least to compare nowadays episodes with those that were released almost twenty years ago.

On air: from 1993 to 2018

Sex and the City

The series is about love, fashion, sex and real female friendship. The main characters of the series, led by Carrie and performed by inimitable Sarah Jessica Parker, became real style icons of their time. They embodied the images of strong women who know what they want, but at the same time desperately believe in love. Despite the provocative title, there is no vulgarity in the series - this is a story about life as it is. Light eroticism is shown with dignity and respect for the viewer. Each episode is so full of details (from Carrie's dizzying looks to Manolo Blahnik boutiques), so the show can be watched over and over again. We highly recommend you to slip into atmosphere of New York and love.

On air: from 1998 to 2004
