The leitmotif of SS Versace collection is the rethinking of the aristocracy of bygone eras and combining it with a modern boldness and audacity – sleeves from the Victorian era are on trench coats, jackets and shirts in combination with denim reveal brand new looks.
The main "hero" of the show was the green dress with tropical print and an ultra-plunging neckline, in which J Lo appeared at the Grammy awards in 2000. At that time, this gorgeous outfit became an Internet hit. So, following this trend, Google decided to create a separate service for storing photos.
Donatella Versace believes that this case proves that fashion inseparably coexists with technological progress and is even able to accelerate it. The show was held in the pavilion, which imitated the ancient Roman Pantheon, surrounded by digital art. So, the designer did her best to show the fashion industry’s relationship with past and present.
The monochromatic palette of the collection was changed by outfits of gradient colors, and then even to the tropical explosion. This line turned out to be an ode to all the heritage of the fashion house – from the first day of its foundation to the present time. The principal details were taken from the 80's – wide shoulders, massive jewelry, neon colors and sunglasses in large frames.
The collection includes black mini dresses with geometric silhouette, jackets with voluminous shoulders, bright blouses, crop tops, skirts and high-waisted shorts, sandals with lacing. Translucent fabric with a pearlescent, neon colors and tropical print became bright accents of the collection. Jennifer Lopez in the famous green dress closed the show– the diva looked as much impressive as 19 years ago.
