Givenchy show was one of the most anticipated ones, as Clare Waight Keller filled the creative director post after 12 years of Riccardo Tisci’s ‘regiment’, moreover, she’s the first female creative director of Givenchy ever. Clare is charged with hope. Obviously, Givenchy fans believe she’ll reinterpret the style of the fashion house. The designer pulled a trump card presenting a great selection of commercially successful looks at her debut show. Tight-fitting leather coats, straight shoulder line jackets, voluminous silk blouses in contrasting colors matched with mini skirts, high-waisted skiny jeans or leather pants with waist belts, dresses varying from mini to maxi, reserved suits featuring cutout pants, almost all the outfits showcased pleating, as to footwear – two-tone pumps and colorful cowboy boots were present. The color palette showcased a great mix of blue and red, indigo, mint, orange and classic black-and-white.
Animalistic prints, trefoil, emphasized waistlines and shoulder lines were a tribute to Hubert de Givenchy’s creative heritage. By the way, Clare met Hubert de Givenchy to discuss her ideas. And then, having ingratiated herself with his support, she brought these ideas to life. The new Givenchy woman definitely has a strong personality, she’s not that brutally sexy kind of girl that Tisci used to portray, now she prefers the cat-like manner of teasing.
However, we’ll be able to appreciate the new chapter in the fashion house history only a few seasons after: as we all know, the first collection is always a test case, asserting oneself takes time.
