In 2016, Prince Harry’s future wife Meghan Markle gave some comments on how best to dress for the holiday. Megan's tips are still relevant.

Over the past few years, Markle has become a real style icon, who understands fashion trends and knows everything about how to choose the right outfits for different occasions.

By her own example, the Duchess of Sussex shows that it’s not necessary to dress in sequin gowns or opt for juicy colors to steal spotlight during the holiday. Meghan loves to rock monochromatic dresses, and for the holidays, she tends to favor darker shades of green — which are perfect for the occasion.

“Throwing on a black dress with black tights, cute booties, a great coat and throw a scarf over it”, Markle shared. “I think simple accessories and, if you want to make a pop, a great red lip.”

Markle also plays with textures well. This includes wearing chiffon with leather or pairing wool with silk. Switching up the texture of the fabrics will help you prevent from looking like a color swatch. This allows you to create interesting laconic images that look festive, even if it made in monochrome shades.

Meghan Markle also addressed wearing lavish jewels for the holidays and other over-the-top items. For her, it is all about wearing things that will not be going out of style in a few years.

Now, the problem of overconsumption is especially acute, so Megan's advice is more relevant than ever: you need to focus not on quantity, but on the quality of clothes. This allows you to stand out from the crowd and minimize possible fashion mistakes.

“I think the worst mistake that a lot of us make is we try to do something so trend-driven, that two years later, you look at those pictures from a holiday party — or you look on Facebook where you can’t control them — and you go, ‘Why did I wear that?’”, she explained.

Markle went on to admit that she has made plenty of mistakes when it comes to holiday fashion tips. Now Prince Harry’s wife is under much closer scrutiny of the press and the public, so she has to take even more seriously the choice of her holiday looks.
