For its summer 2020 women’s and men’s capsule, Burberry’s Creative Director Riccardo Tisci invited a supermodel Kendall Jenner to showcase four different characters as well as to celebrate the monogram of Burberry’s founder Thomas Burberry. The photos were captured by Kendall herself at home as series of self-portraits. The photoshoot was prepared by the famous British photographer Nick Knight and guided by Burberry Art Director Peter Saville and its stylist Katy England.
The campaign creates an impression of being at the boundary of real and imaginary digital worlds, with the designs inspired by the geometric shapes of skateparks and swimming pools. The palette consists of five primary colors: dark beige, azure blue, graphite, cobalt blue, and orange. The capsule reflects the free spirit and optimism for a better future during this summer.
The TB Monogram was assigned as a Burberry House code in August 2018, with Riccardo Tisci taking inspiration from his discovery of Thomas Burberry’s initials. He was joined by the British graphic designer Peter Saville and first presented the Monogram pattern in the SS2019 collection.
