The year 2020, which is coming to an end, has become special for all of us, so there were a lot of things happening in a new unusual scenario. The Pantheon Color Institute also decided to break the rules of annual color selection for the coming year by announcing two shades instead of one. The main colors of 2021 are Ultimate Gray and yellow called Illuminating.
"The union of an enduring Ultimate Gray with the vibrant yellow illuminating express a message of positivity supported by fortitude. Practical and rock solid but at the same time warming and optimistic, this is a color combination that gives us resilience and hope. We need to feel encouraged and uplifted; this is essential to the human spirit," explained Leatrice Eiseman, Executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.
When choosing a color, Pantone's experts research and analyze trends in many industries, from all areas of design, art, and entertainment to modern technology and socio-economic conditions. Pantone noted that the popularity of the chosen combination first appeared in interiors in the middle of last year.
"That was a big clue. We're always looking for clues and we don't want to make up our minds too soon. We want to see how things pan out. When the pandemic really started to hit home and everybody was immersed in it, then we knew we absolutely had to go with these two colors," Eiseman said.
