British fashion designer Erdem Moralioglu, who founded his eponymous label in 2005, was recognised with a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) at the ceremony hosted by the Princess Royal at Windsor Castle on Wednesday. Erdem started his career in 2000 with an internship with Vivienne Westwood, and three years later earned his Master's Degree in Design and Sewing of Ladies' Apparel at the Royal College of Art. After that, the designer lived for some time in New York, where he worked as a personal assistant to Diana von Fürstenberg, and then returned to London and built his own brand.
In his collections, Erdem Moralioglu tries to focus on modern femininity and admits that he considers Yves Saint Laurent to be one of his main idols in the fashion world. In early February 2021, the designer announced that he was expanding the brand's assortment and presented the first wedding collection, and in June he launched a men's line. He counts Kate Middleton, Keira Knightley, Sienna Miller, Chloe Sevigny, Michelle Obama, Kirsten Dunst, Tilda Swinton among his clients.
