Barbie inspired by Vera Wang is released

The famous 72-year-old wedding dress designer has been immortalized as a collectible doll. Mattel has released a new Barbie from the Tribute line, inspired by Vera Wang, the great American stylist. The line contains dolls with the faces of other famous people from different walks of life, and the persona of Vera Wang was chosen because in 2009 the fashion designer created a stunning wedding dress for Barbie.

“When I was first asked to be part of the Barbie’s Tribute series, I was overwhelmed,” said the designer. “I was honored to create several looks for Barbie, but seeing her in my own likeness was something I never imagined. Barbie is the ultimate style icon and has evolved over the decades to meet the changing standard of feminine beauty."
