38-year-old model Natalia Vodianova has been appointed as the new Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations Agency for Sexual and Reproductive Health (UNFPA). In this position, Vodianova will advocate for women's rights around the world.
"This is a great honor and, of course, a huge responsibility",- Natalia told about her appointment. Prior to this, the model worked with the organization for three years and managed to assess the scale of the problem. "If you think about it, this year alone, millions of underage girls will still be forcibly married off",- Vodianova said. The model drew public attention to the fact that many women around the world still face taboos and prejudices regarding women's health, do not have access to personal hygiene items. "They are deprived of access to information and the Opportunity to be healthy and happy" Natalia said.
"The goal of my work with UNFPA is the same as before - to end the taboos associated with women's health. Taboos that do not allow half of the world's population to fully develop and reach their potential ",- the model added.
