After Queen Elizabeth II has approved Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s desire to become “financially independent”, there are questions about how the couple plans to earn their own money. Previously, the couple received a grant from the UK government and part of the funds from British crown’s estate.

Now, Prince Charles will reportedly fund the Duke and Duchess of Sussexes new life. But rather than using the revenue from the Duchy of Cornwall estate, the Prince of Wales will use his own private funds to help the couple with their new life in Canada. But, a source close to Prince Charles has indicated this is not an 'inexhaustible' sum and he will seek to review the couple's financial arrangements in a year.

It is known, that when Harry turned 30, he had his own wealth, including an estimated £20million inheritance from Princess Diana and £7million from the Queen Mother. By the way, Meghan has her own savings: seven years starring in the TV series Suits brought her about 4 million. Also, she earned shooting for advertising and magazine covers.

An application to trademark the Sussex Royal brand was lodged by the couple in June last year, covering items such as books, calendars, clothing, charitable fundraising and campaigning. It raised the possibility of Prince Harry and Meghan launching their own lines of products, from beauty to clothing. But the agreement with the Queen has cast doubt on that idea. One of the Megxsit’s conditions was the fact that they are unable to formally present Elizabeth II, Buckingham Palace and use their merchandise. It is assumed that personal brand can bring a couple about £700 million annually.

And when the duke and duchess announced their intention to "step back", it was revealed that Meghan has already signed a voiceover deal with Disney in return for a donation to an elephant conservation charity. In addition, she may come back to film industry. Internet users began to joke that she has to be cast in the series "Crown" and play herself.

More than that, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex can earn, giving interviews for television and magazines. Now, when the couple is no longer obliged to cooperate with the Royal media’s pool, they will be able to share details of their lives with whomever they wish.
