Wearing mismatched heels is not a fashionable crime, but a real trend that appeared several years ago. Amal Clooney was one of the first who dared this bold experiment back in 2014, when she went out in multi-colored pink and purple pumps.
But the actress Sarah Jessica Parker is sure that a real trendsetter here is Carrie Bradshaw, and it was she who brought the iconic mismatched heels into fashion. In the third season of “Sex and the City,” SJP’s character Carrie Bradshaw went to Los Angeles, where she wore a white minidress with two different-colored heels. For a long time, fans of the series believed that this trick was a simple fail, but a few months ago, Sarah and the show’s costume designer Pat Field explained why the character wore mismatched shoes for the episode, “We decided to use one of each because we could not choose which one was best and they were both perfect with the dress.”
Until finally, after many years, Sarah Jessica Parker announced that she took inspiration from “Sex and the City” and developed her pair of multi-colored heels in honour of Carrie's style. The limited-edition design, which retails for $385, features a bright pink stiletto with a crystal embellishment on the strap and a matching bright yellow one.
According to Parker, 20 per cent of the proceeds from the sale of the mismatched shoes will be donated to Empowerment Plan, an “inspired Detroit-based organisation that provides employment and training to low-income individuals to manufacture sleeping bag coats for those in need”.
