Designer and former Spice Girls member Victoria Beckham has been criticized by animal rights groups. During Paris Fashion Week, paparazzi photographed Victoria wearing the £16,000 Hermes Birkin handbag.
This accessory is made of crocodile skin, but eco-activists were outraged by another fact. The point is that a few months ago, Victoria declared her fashion and beauty empire “cruelty-free”.
Representative of the non-profit organization PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals) Elisa Allen commented on this situation: “Victoria Beckham’s decision to ban exotic skins from her fashion brand’s collection was a great first step, sparing countless crocodiles, alligators, snakes, and lizards a gruesome death — but it shouldn’t stop at her own personal wardrobe choices.”
“She can start by donating any cruelly produced exotic-skin items to PETA for use in educational displays — and by opting for luxury vegan accessories”, - she added.
