The designer's wife will continue his mission to develop black fashion and take over as CEO of Virgil Abloh Securities. This was reported by representatives of the company and Shannon Abloh herself.
Virgil Abloh's influence on fashion, art and design cannot be overestimated, and his unexpected death at the age of 41 last year forced colleagues to find a way to build on his legacy. A couple of weeks ago, a new creative director of Off-White was introduced, and he became a former colleague of Abloh Ibrahim Kamara. Now the company has appointed a CEO, this post was taken by the widow of Virgil.
Shannon Abloh reportedly worked closely with her deceased husband on much of his work behind the scenes and helped organize many of the projects. The new position will allow her to take a more prominent position as the manager of the "creative corporation" Virgil Abloh Securities.
