57-year-old actress Jodie Foster will become a director of a new drama dedicated to the abduction of the Leonardo daVinci iconic painting Mona Lisa.

The Oscar-winning actress, Jodie Foster took the director's chair of the new film. The script is based on the book The Day They Stole the Mona Lisa by Seymour Reit.

The story is about one of the most resonant crimes of the beginning of the XX century. In 1911, one of the Louvre’s employee Vincenzo Perugia stole the iconic painting Mona Lisa. The painting was considered missing for two years, but then it was successfully returned to the museum. Thanks to this occasion, the picture gained worldwide fame and is still considered to be the most recognizable piece of art in the world.

This isn’t the Jodie’s debut as a director: her film Money Monster was released in 2016. In addition, she managed to work on several episodes of the series Black Mirror and House of Cards.
