"I like those Balenciagas, the ones that look like socks", sings Cardi B in her "I like it" track. Her words have certainly not escaped the attention of the popular French brand. Recently it became known that the rapper became the new face of Balenciaga.
On her ******* profile, Cardi B shared a photo of a billboard on the Louvre wall dedicated to the singer's campaign for the fashion house. "I remember how I felt seeing myself on a billboard in NYC Times Square but PARIS! Wish I was there to see it in person!" Cardi wrote.
Balenciaga creative director Demna Gvasalia stressed that this is the first official collaboration of the brand with Cardi B. The shooting took place during the lockdown in Los Angeles. The advertising campaign was prepared by the brand's friends, including the American artist Eliza Douglas, a regular Balenciaga model.
"By removing some steps in a typical campaign production, a contemporary way of creating fashion imagery is brought to life, bridging the gap between fantasy and experience," Balenciaga said in a statement.
