Like most of all fashion events this year, the 2020 Fashion Awards was held online. The British Fashion Council (BFC) showed a short film to announce the winners. According to WWD, this time, instead of handing out awards in the traditional categories of men's, women's wear, and accessories, the BFC offered areas such as creativity, community, environment, and people. Thanks to this, new and independent labels got the opportunity to grab the spotlight.
British designer Grace Wales Bonner, creative director of men's Dior Kim Jones, a tandem of Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons, and creative director of Burberry Riccardo Tisci received the prize for creativity in the era of a pandemic. JW Anderson founder and Loewe creative director Jonathan Anderson were awarded for a fresh look at the show format. On the day of the Loewe show, journalists, influencers as well as brand friends received a box with a mood board, fabric samples, photographs of the new collection, and a vinyl record. The concept was named Show In A Box.
Stella McCartney, Christopher Raeburn, Gabriela Hearst, and Anya Hindmarch received the Eco-Initiative and Sustainable Development Award.
